Our accessibility target
We designed this website to meet level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2. That standard covers how pages come across when read aloud, how they work with a keyboard and how they hold up when enlarged.
Accessibility features
Here is what that involved. Forms have labels and plain error messages. Each control can be used with a keyboard, and the focus is always visible. Headings run in a sensible sequence. Each photo carries a text alternative. Links and buttons describe what they do. Pages adapt to phones and to zoom. The pages use real text rather than a picture of it. The contrast of text and colors was checked.
Testing
Testing happens in two ways: software scans every page for accessibility problems, and every page is then checked in a desktop layout and a phone layout. Both come before any update goes online.
Limits
Not every image description is complete: some give the gist rather than every detail. Anything else that does not work for you counts as a mistake, and it is ours to fix.
